Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using The Coach (the “app”), you agree to these Terms and Conditions and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. You must be at least 16 years old to use the app, and if you are under the age of legal majority in your country, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.

2. What the app is, and what it is not

The Coach is a personal growth, reflection, and self-assessment tool. It uses AI (“the coach”) to ask questions, surface patterns from the assessments and journal entries you complete, and offer general suggestions framed in a coaching voice.

The app is NOT a substitute for medical, mental health, legal, financial, religious, or other professional advice. The AI coach is not a doctor, therapist, lawyer, accountant, mufti, or scholar. The app does not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment, issue religious rulings (fatwas), or give legal or financial guidance. If you are in distress or need professional support, please reach out to a qualified human professional or to local emergency services.

3. Your account

You are responsible for safeguarding the credentials of the account you use to sign in (for example, your Sign in with Apple account). You agree not to share your account or use someone else’s. You agree to provide accurate information when asked and to keep your profile reasonably up to date.

You may delete your account at any time from inside the app. Deletion is a soft delete: your row is marked deactivated and the iOS app stops showing your data. Full deletion of your data can be requested by email (see Section 11).

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the app to:

· break the law, infringe anyone’s rights, or harm anyone;
· attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or bypass any security or rate-limiting controls;
· upload content that is illegal, threatening, hateful, sexually explicit toward minors, or designed to harass another person;
· attempt to extract another user’s data, or to interfere with the operation of the app, its servers, or its third-party providers.

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if you misuse the service.

5. AI-generated content

Replies from the AI coach are produced by large language models and can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. They may misremember context, misquote sources, or produce content that sounds confident but is not accurate. You agree to use your own judgment before acting on anything the AI says, and you accept that we cannot guarantee the truth, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated output.

Quranic verses and hadith are surfaced through trusted third-party APIs and are intended for reflection and inspiration only, not as religious rulings. For matters of fiqh, please consult a qualified scholar in your context.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you write in the app (your habits, goals, reflections, chat messages, assessment answers). By using the app you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, process, and display that content solely to provide the service to you, to generate personalised AI responses for you, and to operate, secure, and improve the app.

We will not sell your content to third parties. We will not use your content to train external AI models without your explicit, separate consent.

7. No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all such warranties.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the app, its operators, its owners, its employees, its contractors, its suppliers, or its licensors be liable to you for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, business interruption, personal injury, emotional distress, or any other intangible loss, arising out of or in connection with your use of the app, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

If, despite the above, liability is found against us, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or in connection with the app is limited to the greater of: (a) the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) US $50.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: your use of the app, content you submit, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

10. Changes to the service or these terms

We may change, add, or remove features at any time. We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the new Terms. If you do not accept the new Terms, you must stop using the app and may delete your account from inside the app.

We try to reply within a reasonable time. Sensitive privacy and data requests are handled in the order received.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operator of the app is established. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by reasonable discussion will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms removes any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived under your local law.
